چکیده

ABSTRACT Absorption-selected galaxies offer an effective way to study low-mass at high redshift. However, the physical properties of underlying galaxy population remain uncertain. In particular, multiphase circumgalactic medium is thought hold key information on gas flows into and out that are vital for evolution models. Here, we present ALMA observations CO molecular in host H2-bearing absorbers. our sample six absorbers, detect gas-rich five absorber fields, although did not target high-metallicity (>50 per cent solar) systems which previous studies reported highest detection rate. Surprisingly, find majority absorbers associated with multiple rather than single haloes. Together large impact parameters, these results suggest seen absorption part extended disc, but resides dense pockets intragroup medium.

Molecular gas in the elliptical galaxy NGC759 Interferometric CO observations

We present interferometric observations of CO(1–0) emission in the elliptical galaxy NGC759 with an angular resolution of 3 . ′′1×2 . ′′3 (990 × 735 pc at a distance of 66Mpc). NGC759 contains 2.4× 109 M of molecular gas. Most of the gas is confined to a small circumnuclear ring with a radius of 650 pc and with an inclination of 40◦. The maximum gas surface density in the ring is 750M pc−2. Alt...

CO ( 1 - 0 ) , CO ( 2 - 1 ) and Neutral Gas in NGC 6946 : Molecular Gas in a Late - Type , Gas Rich , Spiral Galaxy

We present “On The Fly” maps of the CO(1-0) and CO(2-1) emission covering a 10 × 10 region of the NGC 6946. Using our CO maps and archival VLA HI observations we create a total gas surface density map, Σgas, for NGC 6946. The predominantly molecular inner gas disk transitions smoothly into an atomic outer gas disk, with equivalent atomic and molecular gas surface densities at R = 3.5 (6 kpc). W...

Molecular gas in the Andromeda galaxy

We present a new 12CO(J=1–0)–line survey of the Andromeda galaxy, M 31, with the highest resolution to date (23, or 85 pc along the major axis), observed On-the-Fly with the IRAM 30-m telescope. We mapped an area of about 2 ×0. 5 which was tightly sampled on a grid of 9 with a velocity resolution of 2.6 km s−1. The r.m.s. noise in the velocity-integrated map is around 0.35 K km s−1 on the Tmb-s...

Tracing Molecular Gas in the Andromeda Galaxy

We present results from an Andromeda Galaxy (M31) survey of star-forming regions based on 24 μm luminosity for H2O masers, NH3(1,1) and NH3(2,2) lines, and Hydrogen recombination lines (H66α). Although five H2O masers were detected in the initial survey of 206 regions towards M31, we do not detect additional masers in a follow up survey of 300 similar luminous 24 μm regions. We do not detect NH...

Molecular Gas in Optically Selected Mergers

We have mapped the 2.6 mm CO J = 1 → 0 emission in three optically selected “Toomre Sequence” mergers (NGC 520, NGC 3921, NGC 4676). The molecular gas distribution is well resolved by the observations. For NGC 520 and NGC 4676A, the nuclear gas concentrations form a diskor a ring-like structure, and the gas kinematics are regular and are consistent with simple rotation. Discrete molecular gas c...
